When Manual Intervention is needed over just stretch/exercise.

Stretch and exercise is always beneficial.  There is a point where it plateaus in its beneficial effects.  If you notice you have to perform a certain regimen either before or after an activity in order to 'avoid injury', you have 2 choices.  You can either keep up with that regimen (and many others) to allow the activity while still having to deal with a chronic issue that is somewhat better but still present OR you can receive manual intervention to aid the body's joints (pulleys) and muscles (levers) to function where they are supposed to function to allow you to return to activity without the need of regimens.

Best physical therapy practice involves the FULL body's mechanics and NOT just stretches and exercise. Despite the therapy in the clinics that seem to be only stretch and exercise, physical therapy is able joint mobilizations, assessing and restoring mechanics, lifestyle change education, correcting movement patterns, etc. Make sure the care you seek involves everything you truly need, not just what's mainstream.
