Is it the activity or is it You?

You like to run, but it bothers your foot or knee...

You lifted boxes in a move and now your back hurts...

You went on a hike and your hip is sore...

You painted and your shoulder/elbow are feeling 'off'...

Should you avoid these activities?  Is it really the activity that made your body hurt?  Or is it that your body had trouble adapting to the activity that is the true issue?

When your body has these little side shifts, rotations, one flexible joint but the next is not so flexible... performing any repetitive activity will cause stress to regions of the body.  Think about what's going on with your body versus avoiding more and more activities and movement!

Example of the body being 'the shift' causing an activity like squats/deadlifts to become painful over time.

Best physical therapy practice will educate in how to perform the activity properly in addition to correcting the mechanical function of the body to allow you to do whatever activity you desire without risk of chronic injury. Returning to an old movement pattern after having gained joint mobility/structural alignment will simply invite your issues to return over time.
